High School Coaches |
Head Coach John Bergeland2003-present Coach Bergeland has been coaching for 19 years, and has been at the helm at Centennial High School since 2003. He began wrestling in HS and continued onto college where his passion for "the greatest sport in the world” grew. His general coaching philosophy is as follows: “Learning is the key to success.” As CHS promoted an attacking style of wrestling the pin is the ultimate objective, wrestlers work toward having a "weapon" from every position. The aim is to continually strive to help every wrestler become a champion in wrestling and in life. Goals for the upcoming wresting season are to win the Section 5AAA Championship and to place in the State Tournament. When not wrestling and teaching, John Bergeland enjoys fishing, attending Graduate School, and spending time with his family. Coach Steve Peterson2005-present Head JV and Assistant Varsity Coach He has his teaching license in Physical Education/Health and brings a strong wrestling background as well. Coach Peterson has been an assistant varsity coach at West Fargo HS in North Dakota, and an assistant varsity coach at Hawley HS in North West Minnesota. Coach Peterson was a 2x state entrant for Chisago Lakes High School, MN, and wrestled for 3 Years at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.

He wrestled 152 and was a four year letter winner for the gophers. He was a part of this teams class A forth place state finish in 2000. Youth Club Coach Jon Fehrmann2000-present Jon has been coaching at Centennial since 2000. He’s been a freestyle coach, a youth coach, a middle school coach, and a high school coach. Jon graduated with All-State honors from Champlin Park HS in 1993, and wrestled in college at the University of Minnesota for two years and at Augsburg College for one year.
