MN/USA STATE
The MN/USA State Tournament is held at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, MN, running from Thursday through Saturday March 16-18. Pee-Wee and Bantam individual rounds will be held on Friday March 17th, and Intermediate and Novice individual rounds are on Saturday March 18th. Schoolboy and Cadet individual rounds are on Sunday, March 19th. A full link to the schedule here.
For our Pee-Wee and Bantam wrestlers (Born 2015-2020), a wrestler does not need to qualify at a Regional tournament. Pee-Wees and Bantams need to only accumulate 30 total points at MN/USA qualifiers to make it to the state tournament.
Qualifiers:
Pee Wees:
Bantam:
Our Intermediate and Novice wrestlers will need a total of 30 combined points accumulated from MN/USA qualifiers and finish in the top 4 at one of FIVE regional tournaments. Wrestlers accumulate points by the following criteria at MN/USA qualifiers: 1st place – 40 points, 2nd place – 25 points, 3rd place – 10 points and 4th place – 0 points.
Qualifiers:
Intermediate:
Novice:
Schoolboy wrestlers (14U) need to finish in the top 4 at a Regional tournament. All Schoolboy wrestlers are qualified for the Regional tournaments without having to compete at any MN/USA qualifiers. Three days of State Wrestling are broken up as such:
When wrestling at a Regional, if a wrestler qualifies for the state tournament at a determined weight class, that wrestler needs to make that the same weight class for state. A wrestler will not move up or down weight classes after the Regionals.
The Regional tournaments are:
Feb. 19th in Shakopee
Feb. 26th in Blaine
Feb. 26th in Brainerd
March 11th in Forest Lake
March 12th in Cannon Falls
NYWA STATE
Another option for State wrestling tournaments is the NYWA.
To qualify for the NYWA State tournament, a wrestler need to first compete in Districts, and then must place in the top three at Regions. Each Region has 3 District tournaments that lead to Regionals. For proximity reasons to Centennial, I would suggest a District tournament in Becker MN on March 5th followed by the Regions tournament in Waconia on March 25th.
Itinerary for the state meet can be found here.
NYWA State is also held at the May Civic Center in Rochester, MN, and it is scheduled for March 30-April 2.
